I started my DJ career in the Autumn of 1974 when I became a mobile Dj; a great experience for what was to come. In the 1980s I moved on to presenting pop music quizzes and a contestant at that time was involved in setting up a local radio station and in 1994 I was asked to present my first radio show for a community radio station. That station has a full time FM licence and it also operates on DAB and I am still involved presenting my latest show 'The Good Old Days'.
Over the years I've presented a variety of shows, specialising in 1970s and then 1980s, and in recent times, a Themed radio show.
'The Good Old Days' brings together my previous shows in a neat package, concentrating on music from the Rock & Roll era through to the early 1980s. There are a few quizzes dotted throughout the show which prove very popular with listeners. I also have several features, including a weekly Chart Back Track and a 2 by 1 where a listener chooses two favourite hits by one artist; again a popular feature. I think this format is working really well and I like to think I play a wide variety of music and some hits the listener may have not heard for a long time. Each playlist is compiled by me, no computer involved and no revolving playlist. To date I have played over 7000 different songs on my radio shows and hope to dig out more great music in the years to come. I welcome listener participation and even after all the years, I get satisfaction from a listener getting in touch - be it to answer a quiz question or making a request for a particular song.
